This man coordonated police forces to capture the 3 robbers who were already at a Wal-Mart buying electronics with the stolen credit cards. As most of us know, MobileMe is an apple application that allows your iPhone to sync up in real time to a server and backup contacts, calendar dates and other useful information, basically, Apple’s version of an exchange server. But all this comes at a high cost, about 100$ per year for the basic service.

Here, at PwnCenter, have found an alternative solution that will give you a full GPS tracking system that has much more useful options than the MobileMe version without all the sync option on Apple’s servers. Because of Apple’s strict policies, those robbers could have easely escaped capture by simply shutting off the iPhone. Cylay, by iFoneTec, is the jailbreak application that allows full control of the iPhone. This software has useful functions such as: GPS tracking on Google Maps, remote backup to Google or Cylay account, location tracking to alternate mobile (sends coordinates by SMS to a pre-determined mobile phone everytime the iphone changes location), anti-shut-off funtion (prevents the iPhone from being turned off), lock up function (locks phone to prevent user from making calls or accessing homescreen), SMS forwarding (forwards SMS’s to an alternate mobile phone). You can also send messages to the iPhone telling the person you know where they are and in last resort, remotely wipe out all data on the iPhone.

The great thing about this app besides it’s more than reasonnable price of 19.99$ per year, is that it doesn’t have to comply to any Apple policy that greatly improved the actual function of a remote tracking software. I personally have this app on my iPhone 3GS and really don’t regret it. I once lost my iPhone and was able to locate it in my car. This software can also be useful if you usually leave your iPhone on vibration mode and lose it in your house. because you can remotely activate an alarm that will ring at maximum volume until you finally find the phone. This application silently runs in the background and can be activated when you log in to the control panel from the Cylay website.
